The Dog and Duck

Tonight was our first time to go to a bar together. We went for a friend's going away party at this fun little pub called The Dog and Duck. Other than the smoke and stale beer smell, we had a lot of fun. We had some beer (the rootbeer kind of course) and an appetizer while we had fun reliving the nerdy fads of our youth. Things like pogs and oregon trail...it was fun. It is different being the married couple when we hang out with people. It's a little weird...but I think I like it. It's nice to have a guaranteed date.  =o)

The Domestic One

I am officially becoming the domestic one at work. Last night Kyle and I had fun cooking together. We made pasta shells stuffed with ricotta cheese and spinach for dinner. Then, we made a spinach pizza for lunch today at work. Around 11 o'clock I made mini egg frittatas for breakfast today. Needless to say, we ate like royalty today. When I arrived at work, everyone was so completely surprised by my food. It's just weird to me that nobody cooks anymore (unless it comes frozen or in a box.) I love making dinner for or with my husband and sitting down to eat together. I definitely want to have one of those families that makes it home for dinner as much as possible. 

Other than eating, our time has been filled with thank you writing, watching things with our Netflix and trying to get some sleep. 

Surviving the 2nd Married Work Week

Week two of balancing work, life and marriage has gone pretty well overall. We definitely have felt the stress a little more. We're both tired of fixing up the apartment, shopping for/sorting through wedding gifts and the lack of sleep. The thank you notes haven't been written. We are so completely grateful for everything, but convincing us to actually start writing has proven to be more difficult than we thought. 

We've made three attempts to go to the bank. We want to start our joint checking account and get the ball rolling on my name change. But where does the time go? We're just going to keep on going until that wonderful day when there is no more wedding stuff to do and the entire event is one big happy memory.

Oh...and update: The stand mixer of our dreams is sitting on our counter top.  =o)

Summer Sunday

It was so nice to finally attend church this morning as husband and wife. I don't know how, but it somehow seems more fun. It was definitely weird to stand up and introduce myself as Vanessa Moore to a group of people for the first time. Kyle and I had decided to stay at home this afternoon rather than run errands in an effort to keep the sabbath day holy....until we noticed last night that we had just enough money on a gift card to buy the Kitchenaid mixer of our dreams at Macy's. We debated about what to do because today was the last day of the sale that made the price reasonable. We planned to run to the mall after church and buy the mixer before spending the rest of the day at home...but then we heard several times in the talks today about honoring the sabbath day and by the end of church we both decided that the dream mixer could wait a while.

I don't know why, but I'm proud of us. It has been so nice to go to church this morning and spend the rest of the day relaxing together at home. I've even managed to not turn on the television and shock upon shock...it's not so bad. I'm looking forward to many more Sundays to come together.

Only the Beginning....

Two full weeks of marriage and we are still going strong. The wedding was perfect. The honeymoon was amazing. Living together after four years is like living the dream. Now we just need to survive the generosity of everyone's wedding gifts that have been piled from the floor to the ceiling of our little apartment. We're not complaining, but we definitely will be writing some major thank you letters in the foreseeable future.
